arc21 Welcomes Government Commitment to Project - 10 March 2009

arc21 has welcomed the commitment from Government that its Residual Waste Project is among those which will definitely be taken forward. HM Treasury said yesterday (3rd March) that arc21 was a key PFI project that will be safeguarded, if required.

A spokesman for arc21 said:

“We launched our procurement project last autumn and it is clear from the response of the private sector that they share our confidence in the project.

“The announcement from the Treasury naming arc21 as a key UK project serves to reinforce this confidence.

“It is important that progress is made on the delivery of arc21’s waste management plan in order that we can avoid potentially heavy fines from Europe, but also so that we can contribute to the diversity of sources necessary to satisfy our energy needs in the future.”
