Youthspeak 2010 Underway - 25 February 2010

Environmental Youthspeak now in its 12th year is an annual public speaking competition open to pupils throughout Northern Ireland.

The competition encourages environmental awareness amoung the young by giving them the opportunity to research and debate relevant issues around predetermined topics.

There are two entry categories:

1. Junior Section ( For P6 & P7 pupils). Their topic for 2010 is " My rubbish - is it a waste or resource?".

2. Senior Section ( For Yr 8 & Yr 9 pupils). Their topic for 2010 is " Back to the future! learning from the past to reduce waste.

Local heats will be held in each Council area during the week beginning 22nd March 2010.

Schools with pupils interested in participating should contact their Council's Recycling Officer.
