Residual Waste Treatment Project - 4 March 2010

Residual Waste Treatment Project Update.
Veolia Environmental Services (VES), one of the bidders involved in the procurement process to deliver the Residual Waste Treatment Project in the arc21 area, has confirmed to arc21 that it has withdrawn from the procurement process following a strategic decision it made to concentrate its development in Ireland on the hazardous waste sector.
VES has informed arc21 that the Residual Waste Treatment Project, which is focussed on municipal waste, is no longer compatible with the company’s strategic objectives on the island.
Ricky Burnett, arc21 Policy & Operations Director, said:
“We acknowledge that Veolia has withdrawn from the process for reasons relating to the strategic direction of the company in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
We continue to move forward and make progress consistent with the overall project programme.”
