Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

At present arc21's region accounts for 60% of all Northern Ireland's municipal waste, 580,000 tonnes per annum.

While recycling rates have jumped to over 30% from just 7.5% in 2000, our aim is to recycle and compost 50% of all waste.

arc21 is the umbrella waste management group for 11 councils in the east of Northern Ireland. Our innovative and collaborative approach is helping meet the waste and environmental challenges facing us all both now and in the future.

arc21's aim is to encourage households and businesses to 'Reduce, Re-use and Recycle' as much as possible, and deliver new waste infrastructure facilities to manage our waste efficiently and in an environmentally-friendly manner.

	Shortlist Announced arc21 has announced the three consortia that have been invited to the next phase of its procurement process to deliver new waste management facilities.
	Residual Waste Project Update arc21 has issued an update on its Ł1bn project to deliver one Energy from Waste (EfW) plant and up to two Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) facilities. The new infrastructure will help councils meet EU landfill targets and deliver a more environmentally friendly approach to waste management.
