Arc21 - Why

Recycling

arc21 proposes to provide extra bins to households for the collection of waste that can be easily recycled. Not all households will be suitable for extra bins but the ones which are will receive an extra bin to be used to collect waste like paper and cardboard, cans and plastics - known collectively as dry recyclables. Some households may even get another bin for biodegradable waste - more about this in the composting section.

Householders will be required to put dry recyclables in the bin provided and put out for collection on the date allocated. The frequency and date the bins are collected will vary from area to area and we will let know householders know well in advance.

As not all households will be suitable to accommodate extra bins, arc21 proposes to introduce many more recycling centres where members of public can take their rubbish. These recycling centres will also cater for waste glass and bulky waste that is not easily collected and household hazardous waste that must be dealt with carefully. We hope that more, newer and better recycling centres will encourage more people to recycle.
